Soundhue listens to your playing in order to paint it. That is the only reason it asks for a microphone, and the sound never leaves your device. This page explains exactly what the app and this website do, in plain terms.
The short version
- Audio is analysed on your device, in real time, and is never uploaded.
- The app makes no network requests of its own. There is no server to send anything to.
- There is no account, no sign-up, no advertising and no tracking in the app.
- This website counts anonymous page views. Nothing else.
What the app does with your microphone
While Soundhue is open and you have granted microphone access, it reads audio from the microphone continuously and converts it, on your device, into a small set of musical measurements: which of the twelve pitch classes are sounding, how loud, how bright in timbre, and whether a note has just been struck. Those measurements drive the picture.
The audio itself is processed and discarded moment to moment. It is not written to disk, not buffered for later, and not transmitted. The one exception is when you start a recording: then the audio is written into that recording’s video file, which is stored on your device and goes nowhere until you share it.
What the app does with your camera
Soundhue Pro can composite the front camera into the artwork. When that is switched on, camera frames are drawn straight into the picture on your device and, if you are recording, into the resulting video file. Frames are never uploaded and never stored separately. If you never turn the camera on, the app never starts it.
Your recordings
Recordings are saved inside Soundhue’s own storage on your device, alongside a small file describing the scene and palette used. They are yours: nobody else can see them, and nothing happens to them unless you act. Deleting a recording in the app deletes it from your device.
If you share one, the system share sheet does the work. Choosing “Save Video” writes a copy into your photo library, which is why the app asks for permission to add to it; Soundhue can only ever add, and never reads what is already there. Sending a recording to another app or person is the moment it leaves Soundhue, and from then on it is covered by wherever you sent it rather than by this policy.
Purchases
Soundhue Pro is a one-time purchase handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see, receive or store your payment details, billing address or Apple Account information. The app only asks Apple a single question, and only ever receives a yes or a no: has this device purchased Soundhue Pro?
What we collect
From the app: nothing. There is no analytics SDK, no crash reporter, no advertising identifier and no networking code in the app at all. We could not collect anything from it even if we wanted to.
From this website: anonymous page-view counts, through Vercel Analytics. It sets no cookies, builds no profile and does not identify you; it exists so we can tell whether anyone found the site. Our host, Vercel, also processes standard server request data, including IP addresses, in order to serve the page and guard against abuse.
Children
Soundhue is suitable for all ages and collects no personal data from anyone, children included.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export or delete personal data held about you, and to object to its processing. In Soundhue’s case those requests are unusually simple to answer: we hold no personal data about you. Everything the app produces lives on your device and is deleted when you delete the recording or the app. If you would like that confirmed in writing, or you have any other question, write to us.
Who is responsible
Soundhue is made by Oğuzhan Taşımaz, an independent developer. Questions, requests, or anything on this page that seems wrong: otasimaz@gmail.com.
Changes
If the app or this site ever starts doing something different with your data, this page will be updated before that change ships, and the date at the top will change with it.
